Dipsacus laciniatus: Cut-leaf teasel

Plant Identification:

• Growth form: monocarpic perennial plant growing as a basal rosette for at least a year until sending up a flower stalk that can reach 6-7 ft in height
• Leaf: opposite leaves joined at the base and forms cups that surround the prickly stem
• Flower: small, white flowers densely cover the oval flower heads and are present from July to September. Spiny bracts are located on the end of the flower stems
• Fruit: a single plant can produce up to 2,000 seeds and can remain viable in the soil for at least 2 years
