Lonicera tatarica: Tatarian honeysuckle

Plant Identification:

  • Growth form: woody perennial shrub growing up to 10 ft. high
  • Leaf: opposite, ovate to oblong, 3-6 cm long, leaf bases subcordate to truncate, lower surface of the leaves and the young twigs are glabrous
  • Flowers: pink to red, deeply lobed, measuring 2-2.5 cm long, borne in pairs on axillary peduncles
  • Fruit: paired red fruits, spherical, 6 mm in diameter, appearing from mid-summer to early fall
